Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme - TASS

*NEW UPDATE* - APPLICATIONS NOW BEING INVITED FOR SUPPORT IN THE 2010/11 ACADEMIC YEAR

The Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS) is an initiative provided by the Department of Culture Media and Sport. Its aim is to encourage and assist good sportsmen and women to continue and improve in their chosen sport while in higher or further education. The scheme covers 44 different sports including golf and is available to UK citizens attending higher or further education institutions in England.

The scholarship provides services and assistance to the value of £3500 per annum. The application form for men is available on the right, women should apply via www.englishwomensgolf.org. TASS scholarships are available to UK citizens aged between 16 and 25 years and are in full time education at an institution in England.

The TASS award is split into two sections;

(i) Funding that can be claimed back directly from the English Golf Union towards golf related expenses (valid receipts must be submitted);

(ii) Core Services (such as strength & conditioning or physiotherapy support) supplied by a local university or hub facility accessible to the golfer.

Before filling in the application form, please ensure you fulfil the following criteria: -

* Golfers selected must be able to make full use of the TASS delivery of core services at their local recognised university institution or hub site;

* Full completion of the application form is mandatory, including all details requested of your personal coaching team;

* Please ensure supplementary documents (handicap record and golfing CV) are complete and posted promptly as per the instructions on the application form;

* The EGU will then select the 10 best golfers for TASS Scholarships based on golfing achievements and playing records, subject to all the criteria having been met satisfactorily.

The closing date for all applications and supporting documents for 2010/2011 is 15th August 2010.
