Brabazon Trophy Championship - 24th - 27th June 2010
The 2010 English Men’s Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship for the Brabazon Trophy supported by Skycaddie is being staged at Royal Liverpool Golf Club at Hoylake.
This historic course has staged the Brabazon on four occasions. In 1961, the late Ronnie Shade was champion, followed in 1972 by Peter Moody a former Cambridge captain. Sandy Lyle lifted the trophy in 1977, while the 1989 event saw a tie between Craig Rivett from South africa and Neil Roderick from Wales.
The last occasion an EGU event was held at the famous venue was in 1997 when Adam Wainwright from Yorkshire beat Cornwall's Philip Rowe in the final of the English Amateur Championship.
The 2010 Championship is open to Male Amateur Golfers of all Nationalities.
From 1st March 2010, players will be able to enter online.
Opening date - Monday 1st March
Closing date - 12 Noon Thursday 22nd April
Handicap limit - 1
The format is 72 hole stroke play over 4 days. After 36 holes, the leading 60 competitors and ties play a further 18 holes on the third day and a final 18 holes on the fourth day.
This year the final entrants will come from 2 Qualifying Competitions. Details of all other Competition Conditions, including exemptions will be posted online in due course.
