The English Golf Union organise and run up to 20 National Championships across the tournament season, enabling amateur golfers of all ages to compete at the highest level - as they endeavour to secure their place in history and etch their name on some of the most famous trophies in golf.
The EGU tournament season runs from May to October, although preparation and planning for each championship starts much earlier, many years in advance and continues beyond the last putt holed on the final day.
Supported each year by the generosity of the host courses and the EGU's renowned Tournament Panel Referees and Administrators, we are proud to provide the opportunity for players from across the country to compete and challenge for our prestigious National Golf Titles.
We've also made it easy for you to track the score and progress of each player who has made the draw, simply by clicking on the respective championship and watching their score displayed online.
In addition to staging these tournaments, the Championship Team also provide assistance to the R&A by offering advice and guidance on the Rules of Golf and Amateur Status. In 2010 the EGU shall be hosting a 'Rules School' that enables golf club members and staff who are interested in furthering their Rules knowledge, the opportunity to gain an EGU accreditation in the Rules of Golf, here at the National Golf Centre in Woodhall Spa.
You will also find in the Championship section of the website, a comprehensive fixture list for the major Amateur Championships across England and further afield as well as information on DMDs and conforming drivers and equipment.
And if you want advice and instruction on Handicapping and Course Rating, we have experts on hand to answer your queries.
