THE ENGLISH MEN’S SENIORS AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP
Conditions of Play and Qualification

1. Conditions of play

(a) The Championship shall be decided by Stroke Play over 54 holes over three days, 18 holes being played on two courses over the first two days. The leading 60 competitors and those tying for 60th place shall play the final 18 holes on the third day.
(b) 240 competitors shall be eligible to compete. The winner shall be the competitor who returns the lowest gross score over 54 holes.
(c) In the event of a tie for the Championship there will be a sudden death play off over holes to be decided by the Championship Committee.
(d) Subsidiary Competitions by age groups shall be played within the Championship. Competitors returning the lowest gross score over 54 holes in each of the age groups, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and over, shall receive a prize. The Championship winner and runner-up shall not be eligible for a subsidiary group prize.           
(e) In the final round, all those qualifying will be drawn to play in the reverse order of their scores after 36 holes.
 
2. Qualification
To be eligible to enter, a player must be:-
(a) A male member of a golf club affiliated through its County Union to the EGU, or the son of parents, one of whom was born in England.
(b) In possession of a playing handicap not exceeding 12 under the current CONGU Unified Handicapping System or a Comparable Scheme operated by a recognised Overseas Golfing Union, Federation or Association.
(c) Competitors holding both a CONGU and an overseas authority handicap must enter the Championship using their CONGU handicap. Failing to enter in compliance with Condition will result in the entry being denied.
 
3.  Prizes
(a) The winner of the Championship shall be the English Champion Men’s Amateur Senior                Golfer for the year.
(b) The winner and runner-up in the Championship and the winners of the age-group competitions shall receive mementos.
(c) Age group prize winners shall be decided on the first 36 holes when no players from within the category have qualified for the last day.
 
4. Winners responsibilities
The Winner will be responsible for the Trophy from the time it is presented until it is relinquished. He shall also ensure that the Trophy is returned to the EGU in readiness for the following years event. This only applies should the winner be from GB & I. The Trophy shall not be allowed to be taken outside GB & I.
