The English Golf Union (EGU) and English Women’s Golf Association (EWGA) are delighted to announce that Cobra Golf will be supporting their GolfMark Award Programme throughout 2010.
GolfMark is a national scheme that identifies and recognises junior and beginner friendly golf facilities. Any golf club awarded GolfMark will also be recognised by Sport England as a Clubmark facility which is a national standard identifying quality sports clubs across the country.
Cobra Golf will be supporting GolfMark by providing prizes for the club that takes the accolade of GolfMark Club of the Year as well as Cobra Golf clubs and accessories for the quarterly and annual prize draws made available to all accredited clubs.
Ian Barrett, European Marketing Manager for Cobra Golf, added, “We are delighted to be able to support GolfMark. It is a great initiative that recognises those clubs who really work closely with their local communities and provide both welcoming and accessible facilities. Cobra Golf is fully committed to supporting Junior Golf and grass roots development and GolfMark provides us an ideal opportunity to provide that support.”
There are currently 278 clubs who have been awarded GolfMark and 576 clubs working towards accreditation. The three key areas assessed when applying for accreditation are, Coaching & Playing, Club Environment (including sports equity & ethics) and Child Protection & Duty of Care.
EGU and EWGA Golf Development Manager, Richard Flint said, “Clubs who are awarded GolfMark have to put in a great deal of work and it is excellent news that Cobra Golf are enabling the EGU and EWGA to reward those clubs with some fantastic prizes which we know will be put to good use. Their support is very much appreciated.”
Any affiliated golf club can apply to gain GolfMark accreditation. The initiative provides golf clubs with a focused and structured plan for future development as well as a comprehensive set of information that ensures continuity and effective monitoring and evaluation of their activities. Details of the initiative, the clubs awarded and the benefits of receiving the GolfMark Award can all be found at www.golfmark.org.
GolfMark is an initiative jointly provided by the EGU and EWGA via England Golf’s ‘Whole Sport Plan’ for golf and is an integral part of England Golf’s vision to ‘Grow the Game’.
