Info for Counties
The Golf Development Team work with the network of EGU County Unions and EWGA Associations to help develop the game of golf in England.
County representatives are notified on a regular basis of what initiatives golf clubs are participating in within their area and also the resources/information available to their affiliated golf clubs.
Counties can also receive support from the EGU/EWGA and tap into schemes and initiatives :
County Golf Partnerships
Junior Organisers' Workshops
Junior Golf Tours
EWGA Grants

County Golf Partnerships
County Golf Partnerships (CGP) are an effective and structured way to support the development of golf within a county. By the County Union and Association working closely together with other appropriate bodies (such as a County PGA) at county level knowledge, experience, best practice and resources can be combined and utilised.
See information on what partnerships are in place, individual websites and achievements to date.
Junior Organisers' Workshops
Junior Organisers' Workshops are available on a county basis and are for those involved in the running of a junior section, including junior organisers', PGA professionals, golf club secretaries/managers and volunteers. View further information.
Junior Golf Tours
Some Counties have been running a successful Junior Golf Tour for many years in order to support grass roots junior golfers in a competitive environment.
In addition, many counties have shown an interest in running this type of concept and have asked for some basic guidelines to be produced on how to create and deliver a Junior Golf Tour at county level.
The EGU/EWGA have therefore produced the document entitled ‘A guide to running a Junior Golf Tour at County Level’ – this document provides an overview of the concept and is a flexible guide that is intended to act as a starting point and will evolve as more counties develop examples of best practice.
It is important that this type of initiative is considered and ideally delivered by a County Golf Partnership (CGP) as it can link into other development initiatives as part of a structured development plan to grow the game. It is also likely than any potential funding for Junior Golf Tours will be directed through CGPs.
If you wish to develop a Junior Golf Tour within your county then please contact your Regional Development Officer to progress this.
EWGA Women & Girls Grants
The Golf Development Team administer the EWGA Women & Girls Grant for County Golf Partnerships. The EGU/EWGA are committed to supporting Women & Girls golf as part of their overall development strategy and are therefore asking County Golf Partnerships to utilise the grant for recruitment and retention activities.
